Current Commitment to SDG16+
Summary of commitment:
We participate in the fight against corruption by publishing on our social networking platforms the administrative procedures where citizens can access fixed prices for different services. With access prices, citizens will no longer be in the dark when a public official asks for bribes, and they will be able (and are encouraged) to declare the name of the institution where public officials are trying to ask them for bribes.
Organization's priorities and work in relation to commitment:
Veille Citoyenne Togo is a civil society organization of Togo created since 2019 to intervene in the field of citizen monitoring of public action through: 1. The citizen watch by promoting transparency of the budgetary process both at the national and local levels. 2. The citizen control of the transparency of public contracts and delegations of public services. 3. Citizen control of the efficiency of public spending. 4. The fight against corruption and impunity. 5. The denunciation of cases of misappropriation and mismanagement of public resources. 6. The constitution of a file to act as a civil party in economic crimes. 7. Monitoring the implementation of the Integrated Monitoring and Evaluation Policy (PISE). 8. Our work is to raise awareness of administrative procedures within public institutions. We have started our activities with ten (10) administrative procedures that are subject to the highest level of corruption. These are: obtaining ID and passport, public procurement, driver's license and police fines for drivers, customs procedures, obtaining license/title (land, mining ...), starting a business, creating a non-profit organization, permits (agriculture, livestock ...) border crossing procedures and access to health and education.
