Current Commitment to SDG16+

Summary of commitment:

CHRD commits to implementation of 2030 Agenda and will advocate for the 2nd VNR was undertaking by the current government in 2023. CHRD also commit to continue its efforts to incorporate SDG16 national targets and indicators were incorporated into relevant national development policies and were used in assessment of their implementation.

Organization's priorities and work in relation to commitment:

Commitment 1: Advocacy for the 2nd VNR. For this commitment CHRD will mobilize members of the National CSOs Network on SDGs as well as local communities in different provinces of Mongolia for joint advocacy. First activity will be sending an appeal to the Prime Minister as chair of the National Committee on SDGs to assess the implementation status of SDGs and prepare for producing VNR report. The appeal will be open for signing and every month will be sent to the PM and the parliament Sub-committee and require responses for actions. Every month it will be publicized publicly through media. Depending on responses and actions from the government our activities will continue or change its forms. Meanwhile brief reports on the current situation of one of SDG 16 targets will be prepared monthly and sent with the appeal and signatures. Apart from this CHRD will organize message campaign to MPs by local communities on the demand to assess the Agenda 2030 implementation and produce the 2nd VNR report. This advocacy will continue in the first half of 2022. Commitment 2: Advocacy to incorporate SDG16 national targets and indicators in the relevant national development policies. For this commitment our first task is to make necessary inputs in the Governance sub-programme of the Vision 2050 which is long term development policy of Mongolia. The Governance sub-programme is now in the process of drafting. We, CSOs network is drafting our inputs to be sent to the Ministry of Economic Development, which is just recently established on the basis of the national Development Agency. The Governance sub-programme drafting will be completed in the 1st quarter of 2022. CHRD jointly with the CSOs Network on SDGs will send our inputs on citizen participation for the sub-programme and will demand broad consultation of it according to the Law on Development Policy and Planning. Along this we shall publicize this activity, involve media and mobilize public. If we succeed then we move further to implementation plan of the sub-programme to make sure that year by year was a progress in achieving national SDG 16 targets. Within the above activities we shall need to prepare brief social media products to raise public awareness and to get support.

Organization's work related to TAP network's SGD16+ work & accountability for 2030 Agenda:

CHRD's mission is protection of the right to participation. Therefore our every activity can be very much related to TAP Network's work. CHRD is very keen to contribute in sustainable development through mobilizing local communities. We believe that learning and using TAP Network's tools on SDG 16+ and accountability for the Agenda 2030 will help us to succeed in this. We expect that sharing experience on this with the TAP Network will contribute to TAP's work.

Plan on engaging in TAP's work as a Partner:
  • Thematic Working Groups
