Post-2015: UN Summit Outcome Document transmitted to Member States

The draft outcome document of the UN Summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda was transmitted to all delegations yesterday by the President of the General Assembly, and is available online here.

IAEG-SDGs: Open Consultation on the Global Indicator Framework

According to the work plan of the IAEG-SDG, an open consultation with all countries, regional and international agencies, civil society, academia and the private sector is scheduled to start on 11 August and to be conducted until 4 September. The format of the open consultations is currently being finalised by the facilitators, taking into account the discussions so far.

2nd Update On Process To Develop Indicator Framework

On 28 July 2015, Mr. John Pullinger, the Chair of the United Nations Statistical Commission informed the intergovernmental negotiations on the post-2015 development agenda on the progress of the development of the indicator framework for the goals and targets.

Mr. Pullinger informed Member States that the work is well under way and that the Inter-Agency and Expert Group on SDG indicators (IAEG-SDGs) has given itself a strict timeline foreseeing multiple rounds of consultations and opportunities for observers and major groups and stakeholders to provide inputs to the discussions. He stressed that the work of the IAEG-SDGs will strictly follow the guidance received by Member States and expressed his appreciation that Member States have recognised the importance of strengthening statistical capacities in developing countries.

Revised Post-2015: Text for adoption at the UN Summit on the Post-2015 Development Agenda

The co-facilitators of the post-2015 process have circulated the finalised text for adoption (31 July) at the UN summit on the post-2015 development agenda.There will be a plenary meeting today, Friday, at 9 p.m. in conference 1. Conference room 2 will serve as an overflow room. The meeting will also be webcast at webtv.un.org. Kindly please note that arrangements have been made with UN Security to allow MGoS with regular badges and temporary SETs to enter the building through the 42nd street entrance.

Post-2015: Text for adoption at the UN Summit on the Post-2015 Development Agenda

30 July 2015: The co-facilitators have forwarded the latest text to Member States for adoption at the UN summit on the post-2015 development agenda. The IGN plenary will reconvene at 7 p.m. today in conference room 1. Regarding the Preamble, the co-facilitators continue to respect the work of the membership on this matter and have made the adjustments accordingly. Taking into account the comments of Member States, the co-facilitators have provided an alternative Preamble for consideration which is significantly shorter.

Post-2015: Special Accreditation for non-ECOSOC accredited NGOs now open for the United Nations Summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda

In accordance with General Assembly resolution 69/244 of 29 December 2014, the United Nations Summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda will be held from 25 to 27 September 2015, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York and convened as a high-level plenary meeting of the General Assembly. General registration to attend the Summit is not yet open. In the interim, the United Nations offers the opportunity for organizations that are not already accredited to the UN through one of the three categories below to apply for Special Accreditation to the Post-2015 Summit. PLEASE NOTE: Confirmation of special accreditation does not mean that you will be able to attend the Summit. More information on the opportunity to attend the Summit will be available soon.

If your Organization falls under any of the following three categories, then you do not need to apply for special accreditation: 

  • Organizations with consultative status with the Economic and Social Council;
  • Organizations on the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) Roster; and
  • Organizations accredited to the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD).

Post-2015: Logistical information about Monday, 27 July

We would like to share some logistical information about Monday, 27 July. Please note that the meeting will begin in the afternoon at 3 p.m. in conference room 1.

Overflow room

Conference room 3 will be used as an overflow room on Monday, 27 July, from 3 to 6 p.m. All meetings will also be webcast at http://webtv.un.org/.

Coordination meeting

Conference room 1 is available on Monday, 27 July at 11 a.m. for representatives of major groups and other stakeholders to confer.  Mr. Nikhil Seth, Director DESA Division for Sustainable Development, will meet with MGoS on Monday, 27 July, at 12 noon in conference room 1.

Additional meeting rooms

Conference room 8 has been reserved for your use for additional caucusing meetings on Monday, 27 July, from 3-6 p.m. A smaller conference room has also been reserved for your use for additional purposes. Deadline extended to 23 July: Apply to speak in Interactive Dialogues of the Post-2015 Summit

The deadline has been extended until 23 July to apply to speak during the six Interactive Dialogues of the 25-27 September UN Summit for the adoption of the Post-2015 Development Agenda. The deadline has passed to apply to the Selection Committee or to speak during the Opening Ceremony.
