Current Commitment to SDG16+
Summary of commitment:
Our commitment is to drive meaningful progress towards SDG 16 and the broader 2030 Agenda by centering the voices and needs of adolescent girls and young women (AGYW). Through our youth-led, feminist, and rights-based approach, we empower AGYW to lead and influence solutions to local, national, and global challenges. We prioritize building AGYW's capacity and providing them with opportunities to drive change. Collaborating closely with communities and local organizations, we work to dismantle barriers hindering AGYW's development and ensure lasting impact for generations to come.
Organization's priorities and work in relation to commitment:
"Our organization's commitment revolves around addressing health equity, gender justice, and sustainable livelihoods for young people, with a particular emphasis on adolescent girls and young women (AGYW). These priorities and work align very closely with SDG 16 and the broader 2030 Agenda, focusing on the following key areas: 1. Health Equity: We prioritize improving access to sexual and reproductive health services, including comprehensive information and youth-friendly services, for AGYW. Our approach involves advocacy for policies that promote SRHR rights, capacity-building for healthcare providers, and community outreach to raise awareness and reduce stigma surrounding SRHR issues. 2. Gender Justice: Our work in this area aims to challenge harmful gender norms and promote gender equality and women's empowerment. Thus, we implement programs that provide AGYW with leadership and life skills, promote education and economic opportunities, and address gender-based violence through awareness-raising campaigns and support services. 3. Sustainable Livelihoods: We support AGYW in accessing education, vocational training, as well as opportunities to enhance their economic independence and resilience. Our programs include entrepreneurship training, financial literacy education, and mentorship to equip AGYW with the skills and resources needed to pursue sustainable livelihoods. In greater detail, our commitment involves the following objectives and work plan: Objective 1: Increase Access to SRHR Services • Conduct community-based awareness campaigns on SRHR rights and services. • Train healthcare providers on youth-friendly approaches to SRHR service delivery. • Advocate for policies that promote comprehensive sexuality education and access to contraceptives for AGYW. Objective 2: Empower AGYW Through Education and Economic Opportunities • Provide scholarships and mentorship programs to support AGYW's access to education. • Offer vocational training and entrepreneurship programs to enhance AGYW's economic opportunities. • Facilitate peer-to-peer support networks and leadership development initiatives for AGYW. Objective 3: Challenge Gender Norms and Address Gender-Based Violence • Organize workshops and events to promote gender equality and challenge stereotypes. • Provide psychosocial support and legal assistance to survivors of gender-based violence. • Collaborate with local organizations and stakeholders to advocate for gender-responsive policies and services. Our timeline for implementation of the above mentioned program interventions spans over the next three years, with specific milestones and targets set for each objective. We will regularly monitor and evaluate our progress using indicators aligned with the S.M.A.R.T criteria to ensure accountability and effectiveness. Through our commitment, we aim to contribute to achieving SDG 16 and creating a more inclusive and equitable society for AGYW in our communities and beyond."
Organization's work related to TAP network's SGD16+ work & accountability for 2030 Agenda:

Overall, our organization's work complements the TAP Network's objectives by advancing SDG16 and promoting accountability for the 2030 Agenda through targeted interventions that address the specific needs and priorities of AGYW.
