Current Commitment to SDG16+
Summary of commitment:
ChildFund Alliance is committed to ending all forms of violence against children. Our members collaborate to implement programs that prevent and respond to violence against children. We are working on ensuring children and youth are engaged in the SDG process including HLPF activities and VNR reporting processes. Together we advocate with Member States, UN agencies and EU institutions for policies and programs to protect children from violence and exploitation; and enable children to meaningfully participate in decision making processes.
Organization's priorities and work in relation to commitment:
ChildFund Alliance played a key role in positioning a stand-alone target on violence against children in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, SDG target 16.2, to end abuse, exploitation, trafficking and all forms of violence against and torture of children. Our 2026-2027 strategic plan reflects our commitment to advancing SDG target 16.2 through ending violence against children; childrenās participation; and child protection in emergencies and disaster risk reduction. Through our child-friendly accountability initiative we are equipping children with the knowledge and skills to engage governments and other stakeholders, participate in decision-making and planning, and work towards transforming negative social norms that permit and encourage violence against children. Child-friendly accountability supports children and youth to identify problems and solutions. The initiative enables children and youth to dialogue with decision-makers about issues of concern to them, and witness the tangible results of their actions. We are a founding member of the Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children, which convenes stakeholders from across the world to end all forms of violence against children. Turning the belief that no violence against children is justifiable and all violence is preventable, into a compelling agenda for action. ChildFund has a long, proud record of building community resilience and responding to humanitarian disasters as well as its recent ongoing global COVID-19 response. We have an opportunity to strengthen this expertise by supporting children and communities before, during and after disasters strike. Responses include providing child- and youth-led development, child- and youth-focused preparedness, emergency response targeting children, disaster risk reduction activities, and return to community development during the reconstruction phase. For COVID-19 it also has included food and PPE distribution, providing education materials, online education, and training of teachers. ChildFund Alliance will have a new EVAC campaign starting in Fiscal 2022.
