Organization's priorities and work in relation to commitment:

Children and young people living for peace (CYPLP) is a not for profit, voluntary association and social impact organization in Nigeria. We work with and for the good of most vulnerable children, youths and women, underrepresented and marginalized groups of children, youth and women living in hard to reach communities across Nigeria using our platform to amplify their voices for inclusive development. We use our tailored social intervention programs to engaged citizens and communities to participate in governance and take decisive actions on policies and programs of the government as it affects them for their betterment and social well being. Our focus and thematic areas of operations are; peace building and conflict resolution, preventing violent extremism (PVE), countering hate speech, promotion of rule of law and democracy for good governance, mitigating illicit financial flow and drug abuse among young people, migration, de-radicalization, human rights and justice, and sustainable development goals (SDG's). As an organization with special interest in children, youths and women, we work through evidence based approach in marginalized communities across Nigeria, localizing the sustainable development goals(SDG's) and at the same time accelerating implementations before 2030 so that no one will be left behind. The sustainable development goals (SDG's) are part of the core components of our thematic areas that we give adequate attention because of the enormous benefits it has to offer humanity in the long run. Our objectives as an organization are to reawaken the consciousness of the citizens through education, sensitization and advocacy programs to engage them meaningfully both online and offline so they can get involved and take positive actions to hold their government and political leaders (duty bearers) accountable including our institutions for advancement of good governance and democracy as we target to achieve the agenda of 2030 together. We have a strategic work plan of co-ordinated activities and programs that geared towards marginalized groups and we work to see to that these marginalized groups are not left behind in the scheme of things, we carry them along with program activities such as building their capacities through vocational trainings, entrepreneurial skills development for sustainable livelihoods and also through leadership training programs initiatives. Our program activities timelines are monthly and we target the most vulnerable populations and communities for our program activities engagements. Covid 19 response in most cases by our Government in Nigeria speaks to SDG16 and around human right and justice to people and planet. Our commitment to defending and promotion of human rights is becoming more to the front than ever before, as we work closely to monitor and document right violations of citizens at grassroots during and in the post Covid19 era. We also working on how to activate citizens to recover and contribute to peaceful coexistence and inclusive society for sustainable development. We will continue to work as paralegals and community based legal first aid clinic to the voiceless, enabling access to justice for all and building effective and accountable institutions at all levels for inclusive development.

Organization's work related to TAP network's SGD16+ work & accountability for 2030 Agenda:

Our organizational works relate to the TAP Network's work to SDG 16+ and accountability for the 2030 agenda in so many ways, firstly, we have shared objectives and goals of the sustainable development(SDG's).And same core values of promoting transparency, accountability in governance by political leaders and participation in governance by the citizens. Secondly as an organization, we are a strong advocate of peace, justice and strong institutions which the TAP network also supports and advocate for .As partners with TAP Network for 2030 agenda, we will contribute in accelerating and localizing the SDG 16+,we will work at the community levels across Nigeria to scale up goal 16 by organizing frequent programs activities in partnership with TAP Network, by engaging relevant stakeholders, government agencies, and political leaders for a buy-in so as to drive the goals and vision of goal 16 into concrete reality. We will also contribute to TAP's work by contributing immensely in creative writing of articles in her newsletters, blogs and also actively engaging in TAP's programs activities by using our organization and personal social media handles for publicity for wider outreach and audience.
