Organization mission and work description:

The Mission of Children Emergency Relief Foundation (CERF) is to enhance the survival and protection of Children and Youth and by extension their Caregivers, alleviate the vulnerability of Children especially Orphans and Vulnerable Children, Children with debilitating Sickness and Disabilities through Advocacy, Support, Social Mobilisation, empowerment and Collaboration through Programs that are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-Bound), result-oriented, sustainable and replicable. We sensitise Children on how to protect themselves against all forms of abuse (Sexual, Child Labour, Trafficking, Child Marriage, Neglect and Emotional) in both Schools and Communities. We support Children and Youths that are victims of Trafficking. We also prevent trafficking and abuse through empowerment of Caregivers and Teenagers, and help to provide basic needs of Children. CERF support the effective accountability and transparency of Institutions providing services to Children and support equal access of Children to these services regardless of their gender, disability and background. We provide capacity building for Organizations and collaborate to achieve our stated objectives. We provide access to education and health and engage in Community health programming.

Summary of commitment:

Children Emergency Relief Foundation will implement SDG16 mitigating abuse, exploitation and violence against Children and Youth, provide support for victims of Abuse especially Children and Youth, ensure Child Protection, ensure accountability and transparency of institutions providing basic needs for Children, and collaborate to provide capacity building for CSOs working in Communities both locally and globally and provide empowerment and collaborations on SDG16+

Organization's priorities and work in relation to commitment:

Poverty is one of the identified causes of Abuse of Children. Empowerment is a leading solution to Vulnerabilty, awareness Campaign and building the capacity of other CSOs to achieve a great action spread and utilizing local Mass media that is acceptable and widely used in the region is our approach. We will also collaborate with Government Institutions like the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and Organizations within relevant Network like TAP quarterly. Our Community health programme reaching out to Women and Children in the Community will continue both quarterly and when the need arise. We will also continue to provide support for the physically Challenged Children and Youth; ensuring equal access and non-discrimination, educational support and awareness.

Organization's work related to TAP network's SGD16+ work & accountability for 2030 Agenda:

As already discussed, we are supporting TAP's primary objective of SDG 16+, through providing Child Protection, providing Legal ID especially birth registrations, ending all forms of violence against Children and enhance Chjild survival and access to meet their basic need; equal access to all, enhance gender equality and enhancing transparency and accountability of Institutions servicing Children and Local and Global Collaborations.
