Organization mission and work description:

JASIL ’s Mission is to promote sustainable management of natural resources & land use in Mongolia with the advocating study, networking and training for economic development and environment protection by equitable and participatory approaches. JASIL’s Program Aim is to support for community based pro-poor policies and facilitate the empowerment of communities and its Associations. JASIL has been involved in the Sustainable Management of Common natural resources in Mongolia since 2003, and Collaborative Learning for the Co-management of natural resources in Mongolia, since 2007, working closely with the Ministry of Nature and the Environment, Ministry of food and agriculture. JASIl participated in the development and the formulation of Land Law (200), Law 2 on “Reinvestment of Natural Resource Use Fee for the Protection of the Environment and the Restoration of Natural Resources” (2000), Ammendment to Environment Protection law on Community (2005), Forest Law (2007) and the sub-law on Community Based Natural Resources Management (2006) , National “Green Wall program” (2005) and currently working on the implementation of these policy documents and approval of Draft Pasture Law (2012) of the grassland reform in Mongolia, and Herder’s community WFD use manual(2012). Starting from 2018 JASIL also supporting the Mongolian government proposal for an International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists". Currently JASIL is a focal point for Central Asian Pastoral Alliance, CAPA. Also director of JASIL working as Chair for the Regional Support Group, RISG, for "Central Asia & Mongolia" on IYRP.

Summary of commitment:

Securing the tenure rights on rangelands and other common resources in Mongolia and Central Asia are needs the transparent and accountability of laws and policy documents and their implementation for the sustainable development.

With the joining TAP Network JASIL will advocate for the implementation of SDG16 + and Accountability by organizing capacity building workshops and training's, as well as supporting for the implementation of laws and legislation at local, national, regional level by using innovative methods and approaches.
