Current Commitment to SDG16+
Summary of commitment:
At Impact Citi Zambia we always advocate for policy reforms by engaging with government bodies and the private sector, aiming to achieve a 20% increase in supportive legislation within two years. Through research, we produce monthly reports informing policymaking, with a target of a 15% improvement in policy alignment with SDG 16 indicators annually. Our Education programs will train 15 stakeholders monthly, with a focus on measurable skills development in governance and conflict resolution. Regular monitoring will ensure a 10% increase in SDG 16 implementation effectiveness annually. Community engagement events will reach 5,000 participants annually, fostering collaborative solutions to local governance challenges BB
Organization's priorities and work in relation to commitment:
At Impact Citi Zambia, we have an annual program known as the Student Impact Program which is dedicated to empowering young people and fostering civic engagement through our Student Impact Program. To kickstart the program, students engage in the process of writing and submitting OP-EDs, where they articulate their perspectives on pertinent issues facing our society. Following this, we conduct a comprehensive Public Policy training session, where participants learn about policy analysis techniques and advocacy strategies. With the knowledge gained from the training, students are then encouraged to publish their insights and recommendations in articles, either in print or digital media platforms, amplifying their voices and ideas to a wider audience. We focus on enhancing students' public speaking skills through specialized training sessions. These sessions are complemented by Public Lectures, providing platforms for in-depth discussions on various societal issues, and Stakeholders Engagement sessions, where students directly present their policy recommendations to decision-makers. Our efforts continue with another round of Public Lectures and the hosting of a Students Pitch Competition, offering participants the opportunity to pitch innovative solutions to prevalent social challenges. Our focus then shifts towards broader advocacy endeavors, including Radio Advocacy campaigns aimed at reaching a broader audience. We also turn into community-level advocacy, with initiatives such as Community Advocacy and further Stakeholders Engagement activities. Simultaneously, we continue our Radio Advocacy campaigns to engage with communities across Zambia. Throughout these activities, our commitment to amplifying youth voices and advocating for positive change remains unwavering. Additionally, the publication of articles in various media outlets serves to document our advocacy efforts and disseminate valuable insights and recommendations to a wider audience, ensuring sustained awareness and engagement with our mission. The organization spans multiple stages, each aimed at empowering young people and fostering civic engagement. The program begins with an initial phase focused on capacity-building, including OP-ED writing and submission, Public Policy training, and article publication. This phase aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective advocacy and engagement. As the program progresses, it incorporates a variety of advocacy strategies, including Radio Advocacy campaigns and Community Advocacy initiatives, aimed at reaching broader audiences and fostering grassroots-level change. Throughout the program, the publication of articles serves as a means of documenting and disseminating the outcomes of our advocacy efforts, ensuring visibility and impact. The theory of change underlying our Student Impact Program is based on the belief that empowered youth can drive meaningful social change through informed advocacy and active engagement. By equipping young people with the knowledge, skills, and platforms necessary to advocate for policy reforms and social justice, we aim to create a ripple effect of positive change within our society. Through targeted capacity-building, engagement with decision-makers, and grassroots-level advocacy, we seek to catalyze a shift towards more inclusive and equitable governance structures and social systems. Ultimately, we envision a future where young people are actively engaged in shaping their communities and driving progress towards a more just and sustainable world.
