Current Commitment to SDG16+

Summary of commitment:

As an organization, we are committed to ensuring that citizens' rights are not abused in any way. And that citizens are equipped with the correct information, tools, and opportunities to ensure access to justice for all and build accountable and inclusive institutions. We leverage technology to empower young citizens as active citizens to take action for issues they care about, including demanding transparency and accountability from the government. In 2050, Africa will be home to one billion young people. We are positioning ourselves to empower these young people as active citizens to solve problems in their communities.

Organization's priorities and work in relation to commitment:

Organization's work related to TAP network's SGD16+ work & accountability for 2030 Agenda:

TAP Network empowers civil society to advance SDG16+ and SDG Accountability. This relates to our core mandate as well. We also empower civil society to deepen their SDG (including SG 16) impact in communities. We achieve this through the Active Citizen Fellowship, a rigorous hands-on training for young civil society leaders. Another key area of similarity is mobilizing for SDG accountability. Through our web platform, we engage citizens to demand accountability from the government in providing essential services and protecting their fundamental human rights. As an organizational partner, we can act as a focal point for the network. We can contribute to the design of capacity-building tools and other capacity-building activities like training civil societies, including hosting capacity-building activities. We can help to collect and analyze relevant data from our region. Our web platform can also be used for local, regional or global advocacy campaigns. As a UN NGO Major Group member, we will explore opportunities for global engagement through the group.

Plan on engaging in TAP's work as a Partner:
  • Regional Engagement Platforms and/or Regional Focal Point
  • Thematic Working Groups
  • Substantive contribution to any TAP Network resources or advocacy materials
  • Interest in leadership/coordination opportunities within the TAP Network
  • Exploring partnerships with like-minded organizations
  • Global engagement via the UN and other opportunities
  • TAP Network joint global advocacy
  • Exploring opportunities for hosting TAP Network national or regional-level capacity building activities
