Current Commitment to SDG16+

Summary of commitment:

The SLS-SGD-Platform is coordinating the stakeholder engagement while a 06 months living lab will be conducted by the SDG Transformation Lab for content management. Partnerships for goal and thematic reviews are invited form CSO, Business, Academic, Local Government, Associations, Unions and all other stakeholders. Experts, Activists, Entrepreneurs, Academics, Scientists, Professionals, Politicians, Administrators Children, Youth, Women, Elders and all other major group representatives are invited to collaborate.

Organization's priorities and work in relation to commitment:

The Government of Sri Lanka has decided to present its Voluntary National Review (VNR) to the UNHLPF this year. Stakeholder engagement is one of the most important components of the national review on the SDGs. The objective of the stakeholder engagement is not merely to consult, but also to ensure that no one is left behind in all aspects of the process; planning to implementation & review. In the absence of a proper engagement process for an inclusive transformation, Sri Lanka has since 2018 conducted an Independent Monitoring, Evaluation & Review Mechanism with many outcomes including a VPR, PSC & a Domestic Resource Mobilization Framework; This year we are adding a VSR as well & all in partnership. Also, Focused SDG Reviews (FSR) on SDG4, SDG5, SDG14, SDG15, SDG17 are planned with strategic partners.

Organization's work related to TAP network's SGD16+ work & accountability for 2030 Agenda:

We are a unique platform that ensures LNOB at its maximum and manages an "Independent Monitoring, Evaluation and Review Mechanism" for the SDgs in Sri Lanka. SDG16 is central to ensuring the progress of all SDGs in this sense. We bring together national, subnational and local actors from all sectors and stakeholders into transformation dialogues and collaborative planning and implementation.

Plan on engaging in TAP's work as a Partner:
  • Regional Engagement Platforms and/or Regional Focal Point
  • Thematic Working Groups
  • Interest in leadership/coordination opportunities within the TAP Network
  • Exploring partnerships with like-minded organizations
  • Global engagement via the UN and other opportunities
  • TAP Network joint global advocacy
  • Exploring opportunities for hosting TAP Network national or regional-level capacity building activities

A COLLABORATIVE CAMPAIGN TO BRING THE WORK OF CIVIL SOCIETY ON SDG16+ TO THE 2019 HLPF.
