Current Commitment to SDG16+
Summary of commitment:
At SAVE, we are committed to advancing SDG16 by promoting environmental justice, social accountability, and inclusive governance in resource management. Through advocacy, capacity building, and community engagement, we aim to ensure equitable access to natural resources, strengthen rule of law, and protect vulnerable populations from environmental harm. Our focus is on empowering marginalized communities to participate in decision-making processes and advocating for transparent, accountable governance that ensures fair distribution of resources by 2030.
Organization's priorities and work in relation to commitment:
SAVE is committed to promoting SDG16 by advancing social and environmental justice, transparency, and inclusive governance. Our work focuses on ensuring equitable resource distribution and empowering marginalized communities, particularly those impacted by extractive industries, to participate actively in decision-making processes. We aim to strengthen rule of law, advocate for better environmental regulations, and improve access to justice for vulnerable populations. Our key priorities include promoting inclusive governance, ensuring transparent resource management, and building the capacity of civil society organizations and community leaders to hold public and private sector actors accountable. SAVE advocates for stronger policies that protect the rights of affected communities and promotes fair distribution of natural resources. We plan to implement this through advocacy campaigns, community engagement, and capacity-building initiatives. By facilitating dialogues, training workshops, and awareness programs, we will empower citizens with knowledge about their rights and environmental protections. Our advocacy work will focus on influencing policymakers to create frameworks that prioritize transparency, participation, and accountability in natural resource governance. Over the next few years, SAVE will prioritize strengthening local governance systems and building partnerships with national and international stakeholders to push for greater accountability. Our goal is to see legislative reforms and increased corporate responsibility in managing natural resources. We believe that empowering communities and advocating for transparent governance will lead to more just, peaceful, and sustainable development. This aligns with our broader vision of fostering inclusive societies where everyone benefits from natural resources equitably.
