Third meeting of the IAEG-SDGs

Application for participation of stakeholders from civil society, academia and private sector

UN DESA Statistics Division, in collaboration with UN-NGLS, is facilitating a nomination process to identify representatives from civil society organizations, academia and the private sector to attend the 3rd meeting of the Inter-agency and Expert Group on SDG Indicators, taking place in Mexico City, Mexico from 30 March – 1 April 2016.

A volunteer Stakeholder Selection Committee will be set up to ensure broad and inclusive participation in the selection of stakeholder candidates. The committee will review all applications received through this process and determine a list of approximately 50 candidates to attend the meeting. Please note that members of the Committee cannot be considered to attend the meeting.

PGA Informal exchange of views on SG’s report follow-up & review 2030 Agenda

The General Assembly will also hold an informal meeting for an exchange of views onĀ the advanced unedited version of the report of the Secretary-General on the follow-upĀ and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, on 10:00 AM EST Friday, 5 FebruaryĀ 2016, immediately following the adjournment of the briefing on Technology FacilitationĀ Mechanism, in the Trusteeship Council Chamber. IAEG-SDGs results from open consultation on ‘grey’ indicators are now available

The inputs and comments provided will be considered by the IAEG-SDG Members in their final phase of preparation of the indicator proposal for submission to the Statistical Commission. Please note that the final decision on the number, type and formulation of the indicators in the final proposal of the set of global indicators will be taken by the IAEG-SDG Members.

Open consultation on proposed global SDG indicators coded as ‘grey’ to be launched on 9 December 2015

03 December 2015: An open consultation will take place on the proposed SDG Indicators that currently coded as ‘grey’, indicating that further discussion on them is still needed. The consultation will be open from Wednesday, 9 December to Tuesday, 15 December to both observers(non-IAEG Member States and representatives of regional commissions and regional and international agencies) and other stakeholders (civil society, academia and private sector) for technical comments.

The inputs provided will be considered by the IAEG-SDGs Members in their final phase of preparation of the set of indicators to be submitted to the Statistical Commission. The final decision on the number, type and formulation of the indicators in the global indicator framework proposal will be taken by the IAEG-SDGs Members.

IAEG-SDGs Open consultation on proposed global SDG Indicators coded as “green” to be launched on 4 November 2015

As agreed at the 2nd IAEG-SDGs meeting in Bangkok, an open consultation will take place on the proposed SDG Indicators that were coded as “green” ahead of the meeting. As indicated by the co-chairs of the IAEG-SDGs, additional comments on the indicators coded as “green” during the meeting can also be submitted. The consultation will be open from Wednesday, 4 November 9 am EST to Saturday, 9 am 7 November EST.

The consultation is open to observers (non-IAEG Member States and representatives of regional commissions and regional and international agencies) and other stakeholdersĀ (civil society, academia and private sector) for technical comments.

The inputs provided will be considered by the IAEG-SDGs Members in their final phase of preparation of the set of indicators to be submitted to the Statistical Commission. The final decision on the number, type and formulation of the indicators in the global indicator framework proposal will be taken by the IAEG-SDGs Members.

HLPF WG: Form to Solicit Nominations for 3 MGoS colleagues to Participate in the HLPF Retreat Organized by the ECOSOC President (21-22 November)

The ECOSOC President is organizing a high-level retreat on the HLPF from 21-22 November outside NYC. He would like to invite 3 representatives of the major groups and other stakeholders to also participate. Please find attached a form that we have created for soliciting nominations for the HLPF WG’s final selection. Please note that the deadline for nominations is cob Friday, 6 November. Please also note that while the cost of participation in the retreat (bus transportation to venue, lodging and meals) will be covered, DESA will not be able to support travel to this event.

2030 SD Agenda: Questionnaire on critical milestones towards coherent, efficient and inclusive follow-up and review at the global level (deadline 15 November 2015)

As you are aware, in paragraph 90. of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda (https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/post2015/transformingourworld), Member States requested the Secretary-General, in consultation with Member States, to prepare a report, for consideration at the current 70th session of the General Assembly in preparation for the 2016 meeting of the HLPF which outlines critical milestones towards coherent, efficient and inclusive follow-up and review at the global level.

In order to informally contribute to the reflection, Major Groups and other Stakeholders are hereby invited to provide their views and inputs on these issues by completing an online questionnaire available at: http://goo.gl/forms/KXWkLSs153. Partnerships for SDGs

20 October 2015: Partnerships for SDGs is an online platform for encouraging global engagement around multi-stakeholder partnerships and voluntary commitments in support of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The platform is currently in a draft (beta) version, with a full version including additional functionalities to be launched in January 2016, responding to the needs of the users and to the requests of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.

Views are now sought from all stakeholders through an online survey, with the results from the survey to guide the development of the projected “full version” in achieving its aim of becoming a tool to encourage global partnerships engagement around the SDGs.
